Alidad
“By mixing new objects, made to look old, with genuine antique textiles and furniture,
the eye cannot easily differentiate between the two.”

Verre églomisé Dining Room

Verre églomisé, the ancient art of gilding and reverse painting on glass,  appears to be lit by candles, but in fact Alidad has used concealed fibreoptic lighting. He likes to use modern technology whenever he can, so long as it is completely hidden.
The original room is quite modest in size with a fairly low ceiling. By using chairs with unusually high backs, Alidad has tricked the eye into thinking the room is bigger than it is. The velvet cloth provides a rich focal point for a room that is steeped in romance and mystery.
